Description

The painting addresses the iconography of Mary Magdalene at the moment of repentance, structuring the scene around traditional symbols associated with the saint: the skull, the cross, and the necklace. The figure is placed within an intimate dimension, where the sacred subject becomes an occasion for inward meditation.

Notes on the work

Created in 2024 for Les Italiens e i Francesi, the work engages with the Italian Baroque figurative tradition and with the memory of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century masters, filtering them through a contemporary sensibility.
